The supplier visits focused on CNC machining infrastructure, dimensional inspection resources, production capabilities and suitability for prototype, low-volume and batch-production requirements.
23 October 2026: Three Manufacturing Companies
On the first day, we visited three manufacturing facilities, each equipped with more than 15 VMC machines. Their capabilities covered CNC turning and VMC machining, supporting projects from prototypes through batch production.
Key capabilities and infrastructure included:
- 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis and higher-axis machining capabilities.
- CNC turning for suitable turned components.
- In-house CMM, Trimos and VMM inspection equipment.
- ISO 9001 and ASD9001 certifications reported for the visited facilities.
- Import Export Code (IEC) availability.
24 October 2026: Three Additional Manufacturing Companies
On the second day, we visited three additional manufacturing facilities, each equipped with more than 50 VMC machines. The visits allowed us to evaluate additional manufacturing capacity and understand the facilities’ suitability for different component and production requirements.
The visited companies work with defence and aerospace supply chains. For every prospective project, supplier suitability must still be assessed against the component specification, required certifications, customer approvals, traceability and applicable industry requirements.
What this means for buyers

What We Evaluate When Selecting CNC Machining Suppliers
1. CNC Turning and Multi-Axis Machining
The right machining process depends on component geometry, material, dimensional tolerances, surface finish and required quantity. A part that can be produced economically on a 3-axis VMC may not need a more complex machining setup. Other components may benefit from 4-axis or 5-axis machining to access multiple features and reduce setup changes.

2. In-House Dimensional Inspection
Machining capability must be supported by appropriate measurement and inspection. The visited facilities had in-house CMM, Trimos and VMM equipment.
- CMM: Coordinate measuring equipment for dimensional verification of suitable component features.
- Trimos: Height measurement equipment for applicable dimensional checks.
- VMM: Vision measurement equipment for suitable optical measurement applications.
The measurement method should be appropriate for the drawing, tolerance and feature being inspected. Inspection reports can be coordinated according to the customer’s requirements and the agreed inspection plan.

3. Certification and Quality-System Review
The visited facilities reported ISO 9001 and ASD9001 certifications. Certification is an important part of supplier evaluation, but it should not be treated as a substitute for reviewing the certification scope, validity, applicable processes and customer-specific requirements.
Aerospace and defence-related projects may require additional approvals, traceability, material documentation, special-process controls or programme-specific qualifications. These requirements must be verified before a supplier is selected for a particular order.

Senior Quality Engineering Support for Customer Projects
