Two Shot Molding Services
Reduce assembly costs, improve aesthetics, eliminate secondary operations and manufacture stronger plastic products using Manufyn’s advanced Two Shot Injection Molding Services. From prototype tooling to mass production, we help OEMs worldwide manufacture precision two component plastic parts through India’s certified manufacturing ecosystem.
Why Choose Two Shot Injection Molding?
Two Shot Injection Molding, also known as 2K Injection Molding, Dual Shot Molding, or Two Component Molding, combines two different materials or colors into a single molded component during one automated manufacturing cycle. This process eliminates manual assembly, improves product quality, reduces production costs, and enables innovative product designs that are difficult to achieve with conventional molding methods.
Single Production Cycle
Manufacture complex multi-material components in one automated process, eliminating secondary assembly operations and reducing production lead time.
Superior Material Bonding
Create permanent bonds between rigid and soft materials, transparent and opaque plastics, or multiple engineering polymers with exceptional strength and consistency.
Lower Manufacturing Cost
Reduce labour, assembly, inventory handling, quality inspection, and production costs while increasing manufacturing efficiency for medium and high-volume production.
Premium Product Appearance
Manufacture attractive multi-colour products with integrated soft-touch grips, transparent windows, seals, logos, and decorative features directly from the mold.
Improved Design Freedom
Engineers can integrate multiple functions into a single component, reducing part count while improving product reliability, ergonomics, and overall performance.
Scalable Production
Ideal for prototype validation, bridge production, and high-volume manufacturing across automotive, medical, electronics, industrial, and consumer product industries.
Need Expert Guidance for Your Two Shot Molding Project?
From Product Design & Development and DFM reviews to tooling, production, inspection, and global logistics, Manufyn provides a complete manufacturing solution through India’s certified supply chain. We also support projects requiring Overmolding, Insert Molding, and Plastic Injection Molding for OEMs worldwide.
How Two Shot Injection Molding Works
Unlike conventional plastic molding, Two Shot Injection Molding combines two different materials or colours into one finished component without manual assembly. The process uses a specially designed mould together with a rotating platen or index plate, allowing both materials to be injected sequentially with exceptional precision. This manufacturing method is ideal for producing complex, high-quality components with superior strength, appearance, and functionality.
Product Design
Engineers evaluate the component geometry, material compatibility, application requirements, and manufacturing feasibility.
DFM Analysis
Wall thickness, draft angles, gate locations, shrinkage, and tooling are optimized before mold manufacturing.
First Injection
The first engineering plastic is injected to create the base structure of the component.
Mould Rotation
The mold rotates or indexes automatically, positioning the part for the second injection cycle.
Second Injection
The second compatible material bonds permanently with the first shot to create a single finished component.
Cooling
The combined part cools uniformly, maintaining dimensional stability and excellent bond strength.
Quality Inspection
Every component undergoes dimensional, visual, and functional inspections before shipment.
Global Delivery
Parts are securely packaged, documented, and exported worldwide with complete logistics support.
A Complete Manufacturing Solution
At Manufyn, our engineering team works closely with customers from the earliest product development stage to ensure every Two Shot Molding project is optimised for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. By analysing material compatibility, part geometry, gating strategy, and mould design, we help reduce production risks before tooling begins.
Our certified manufacturing partners produce precision components using advanced servo-controlled injection moulding machines capable of handling engineering plastics such as Nylon, Glass Filled Nylon, ABS, Polycarbonate, PBT, TPU, TPE, PEEK, Ultem, and other high-performance polymers. Whether you require soft-touch grips, transparent windows, integrated seals, or multi-colour plastic parts, our team ensures consistent quality from prototype to mass production.
